Alleged Harasser Inquired: 'Yet What If I Might Be Madeleine?'
A female accused with stalking Kate McCann reportedly recorded her a voicemail message which posed: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, twenty-four, who a jury heard has consistently claimed she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.
On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told communication data and information retrieved from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test during the past two years.
Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most widely reported investigations and is still unresolved.
'I Am Not Seeking Money'
A separate recorded message, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I know what I believe."
While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's answerphone stated: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? Then what? Is that not important for you?"
"I do not need money, I have a living here in Poland, I just want to know," the recording stated.
The jury was advised that via electronic messages, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, forwarded early photographs to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and asserted to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.
The investigator, an investigator with the police force who gathered the data, told the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted close associates of the McCanns, based on the call data.
On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann responded to a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "the wrong phone."
During that incident Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will continue and I intend to demonstrate my point."
The court learned Mrs Spragg struck up a association online with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in Leicestershire in December 2024.
Communication data demonstrated Mrs Spragg had communicated using communication app to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the time leading up to the visit to Rothley, the county, in December 2024.
The court heard correspondence between the two accused, in November 2024, considering endeavoring to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from utensils at a eating establishment.
"We must make a stand," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.
On the evening of the trip to their home, the defendant dispatched a text which stated: "We are sitting near the McCanns' home with our lights out like private investigators. I desired to accomplish this with someone else I never thought I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
The trial ongoing.
