Clair Obscur Dominates at the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards
The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards took place recently, and with a remarkable performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the most decorated winner. This breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the prestigious Game of the Year award, along with honors for Best Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Adding to the studio's triumph, the talented actors also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English received Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Supporting Performance Award for his role as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Best Development Team. In total, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved 7 awards throughout the ceremony.
Other standout winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Top Sound Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and Best PC Game. Notably, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the audience, with only 4 categories—Critics' Pick, Breakthrough, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamer Selection—determined by experts.
