FC Barcelona to Host Inaugural Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou this Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition two and a half years after they moved out so building work could begin.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch as per the current authorization. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou earlier this month. Officials stated they are seeking authorization from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side in December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
