JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution is not entirely an brand-new feature. Rather, the latest film from the JuJutsu Kaisen supernatural series is a compilation of the anime's second season merged with the initial episodes of its third season, which kicks off the Culling Games arc from the original manga. This makes Execution, which just got a new trailer, the first way to watch the beginning of the next season ahead of its premiere in early 2026. The feature launches in cinemas in Japan starting November 7, and in North America on Dec. 5.

The Culling Games Storyline

In the Culling Games storyline, Special Grade sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu makes his entrance into the anime series and is charged by sorcery authorities to take down his classmate Yuji Itadori. Their long-awaited clash occurs for the very first time on the cinema screen, and if the animation team at the studio have something as special as the two-part Thunderclap episodes prepared for viewers this festive season, JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution may turn out to be the gift that we've been waiting for.

The "Thunderclap" Controversy

"Thunderclap" from the second season is often hailed as one of the greatest sequences in anime history, in spite of the significant debate in 2023 when the episodes first debuted. It was reported that the animation team were facing crunch conditions to the degree, and the released version that premiered at the time was not fully polished and allegedly not what the animators initially intended.

The Epic Battle

The scene showcases a long-awaited battle between two elite magic wielders, Sukuna and Mahoraga. It boasts experimental animation, masterful camera work, and intense action. A subsequent physical media version provided an opportunity to add additional scenes to flesh out the fight. So it appeared likely Execution could improve the battle even more. However, looking at the recent teaser, it's difficult to determine if that fight has been given extra attention. It'd be a disappointment if it hadn't, because a scene of that magnitude has to be seen on the cinema screen with the best presentation possible.

Season Two Success

The second installment of JuJutsu Kaisen boosted the show to become the top anime of the year, and when the Thunderclap episodes were premiered one after another, it was the subject of discussion for weeks in the animation fandom. Viewers were aware of the issues behind the scenes, which made them value what they witnessed even more. People anxiously checked to see if the disc version, made available on March 18, would add any additional scenes to the battle or to see if it was improved in any way, and were elated to see precisely that, alongside reshades, more motion, and revised visual style.

The Movie's Opportunity

But the home video can only touch up what has initially broadcast in the broadcast edition, whereas the cinematic experience has the opportunity to do the sequence justice with more adjustments and completely new animated sequences.

Currently, these episodes act as the pinnacle of JuJutsu Kaisen, and should be treated as such by Mappa, especially considering the debate they faced at the time. It's drawn the focus of viewers all over the world, and the Culling Games arc is one of the most anticipated anime arcs of next year. If Mappa wants to start the year off right, revisit the series' best moment once again in cinemas with the finest version we've witnessed to date.
