A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt able to express about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without laughter".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.

This week, a Los Angeles court official ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order issued a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of homicide, with a official listing noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
