Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”

This update on his health arrives after the sports world offered its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
